American Airlines Cuts International Flights From Seattle

Seattle's transformation into an international gateway appears to have been abandoned by American Airlines.

From Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, all international flights have been canceled by American. A highly coveted opening at Heathrow Airport and a route from Seattle to London are included.

From Seattle, the route will now be flown exclusively by British Airways, an airline partner of American

American Airlines has reluctantly decided to cease service between Seattle (SEA) and London (LHR) as a component of an ongoing assessment of its network. Twenty-five daily flights are scheduled to depart from ten U.S. cities for LHR during the upcoming summer.

London Heathrow (LHR) remains connected to Southeast Asia via British Airways, our aviation partner. In order to provide alternative travel arrangements, we are proactively contacting consumers who have been adversely affected.

In lieu of the Seattle route, American will increase service from Miami to London by one additional flight.

Seattle failed to function as a global hub to the extent that American had anticipated, as implied by the decision to cancel all international flights.

American will maintain the utilization of its centers and spoke system, which includes locations such as Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, and Charlotte, among others.

This includes additional flights to Dallas/Fort Worth, the place of its headquarters and primary gateway. America remains optimistic that its flight attendants will not go on strike.
